About 5 years ago I stopped making bows because of the hassle of reducing billets to staves (I never learned to do it properly), or the time lost trying to find decent boards in lumberyards. I made about 15 bows before stopping, all self longbows in different primitive styles.
I'd like to start making bows again, but only if I could find a supplier of blank staves. Trouble is, shipping blank staves is rather expensive, so I'd like to find one in Quebec. I'm not picky about wood species. I've done all my bows from ash and liked it. Hickory or ironwood are two other types of wood I'd like to try, but ash would be just fine.
If anyone knows a bowyer that could sell me a few, I'd really appreciate it!
