So I turned an 8 pound sledge into a straight-peen with my angle grinder, and I feel like there's a lot more I could do to improve the geometry, besides just rounding the peen. I've seen peddinghaus hammers that seem to have reverse-tapers on the heads of their hammers, so the face is wider than the "stem" projected from the eyelet, sort of like an interrupted pyramid shape, like so: /_\
Is this beneficial in any way? What would the hammer-heads of this forum do differently? Pictures enclosed.
