Posts: 1609 Oct 28 11 4:03 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Good work!!! The edge angle looks perfect but, the only way to find out for sure, is to cut wood with it. When you cut, stay almost vertical (provided the log is horizontal, of course) with your chops. Maybe a 5 degree angle from vertical but not much more. Don't baby the thing. They cut very well if you just us it like a good tool. Also, you might want to grind down the edges to about an inch back from the bit. That'll help keep the celt from "grabbing" and will let the chips fly more readily. I'm very glad to see that you did so well with your first one. I think a lot of others on this forum would like to try it but are concerned about the labor and time it takes to make one. Once you start cutting with it, all your concerns will vanish. Again, Great job!! Way to go!! Larry Oh, and one more thing, make sure that you put the celt into the handle only one way, or you can split your handle. In other words, don't reverse the stone, in the handle.

It was not near as bad as I thought but next time I will be real picky about the rock I start with. I think an hour of searching for just the right rock could save 5 hours of labor. I worked on this one for 8 hours.
