Just wanted to tell ya'll of a year-long series of articles that will be appearing in Primitive Archer magazine beginning early next year. It will be titled Treasures of the Smithsonian and will highlight authentic Native American archery gear housed in the Smithsonian's collections. The articles will have detailed photos of the bows, arrows, and quivers, as well as measurements and construction materials. For those of you who would like to see the real thing, or possibly would like to replicate authentic North American Archery gear, this is your chance to see the real deal. Each article will focus on a different tribe, starting on the east coast and working westward, finally ending with the bows and arrows of the Hupa of northern California. Nothing like this has ever been published, and most of what will be presented has never been seen before. Some ya'll might want to get a subscription....I know I will.
