I have seen quite a few knife sheaths and some pouches that have inlays on them (this and this are examples of what I'm talking about) and I'm not quite sure how
you would go about that. I'm certainly not very good at leatherwork yet, but it's something I'm curious to try. I've been trying to figure
out how it's done, and I came up with various theories--beveling the area for the inlay so the edges of the second material can be sunken down and stitched
in, carving out the area for the inlay, cutting out the area for the inlay and using a thin piece of leather as a backing, cutting out the area for the inlay
and using no backing. Is there any standard way to do it, or is it a per-person thing? Thanks!
