Help George Tsoukalas & others 
I'm thinking of trying to make poplar shafts from the raw tree.
So....
0.) What's a correct diameter tree to cut?
1.) do I cut logs to say 36" ?
2.) peel the bark off & seal the ends?
3.) air-dry & then quarter-saw (i.e. split into small diameter billets) ?
4.) rip to 7/16" squares & plane from that point?
Well that's what I'm envisioning anyways.
Never done it, so please, any pointers you folks can pass on?
