Posts: 367 Aug 14 08 6:34 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	My bow is 68" n2n 1.75 at fades straight taper to .50" tips. the handle is 12" long ( I know why so long, feels good )2" thick with a cut 1/8" Before center. It's 51#@24" and flings a 29.5"BOP 60-65# ash arrow like a dart. Make your handle smaller. Posts: 3998 Aug 14 08 6:49 PM Administrator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	If it's a good solid piece of hickory, 1.75" is good to 70# if well tillered. If you are looking for 50-55#, narrow it down some...1.5" is plenty. Roughly 8" stiff center section, narrowed at the grip to 1", exact handle length and shape to fit YOU. Hickory is tough wood, take your tips down well under 1/2"....1/4" is plenty safe for even high draw weight.

At 2" wide, this is more of a pyramid shape.. Arc-of-circle tiller instead of elliptical. more on handles: http://analogperiphery.blogspot.com/2007/03/selfbow-handle-dimensions.html Bear in mind hickory's tendency to hold onto a higher Moisture Content at a given Relative Humidity versus other woods.
