Charlie,
I keep reading about the "black mat" above the clovis layer (I believe it said), which some say is the result of some meteor exploding over the great lakes area post clovis...others have other theories I am sure. anyway..my question for you, is that in your many "walk abouts" as the aussies call them, looking for clovis and preclovis materials, have you ever seen this so called black mat here in Texas. I know they have seen it south of Tombstone arizona at that clovis site, and ones further north near the great lakes. I just wondered if you have ever noticed this in your wanderings. Also, Mr. Patten if you read this, I know you have seen many Folsom sites and others and would be interested in your obesrvations on the "black mat".
thanks for your time.
