According to this Fiddler has actually been using the "unfortunately named" bow-crotch, rather than an atlatl or fork and cord chucker...

I Like the "Fork'n'chord chucker" the best! That name has a certain ring to it! LOL....
There was one atlatl artifact found in the Southwest USA (I forget the name at the moment) that might well have been set up the way fiddler has his. I'll find the reference at home and hopefully a drawing/photo. T |

I read Johns article and saw the "bow crotch" mentioned. Wasn't sure what he was talking about but
guessed it could be my "fork n cord" chucker. Reading scholarly articles is a bit tedious for me. Does John W. ever visit here on P.P.? It would be niece to chat with him, even indirectly. cheers fiddler49 |

John often comes to the Valley of Fire for the events there. Very likely that he'll be there this year with the annual meeting and all. We did some
knapping a few years back, and I was honored to have traded a point with him (I was really flattered that he'd want one of mine...he picked a nice
Johnstone point!). John's a good guy. Here's a pic from an event in Michigan I went to when i was on the board of the WAA:
From left to right: Me (in red shirt), Ray Madden, John Whittaker (down in front below Ray), Charlie Bracken (back center), Gary Fogelman, and Ron Mertz taking a knee on the right. What a pleasure it was throwing a 3-D course with these guys!
