hi guys sorry Ive been away for a while.
got a commissioned to build a Viking bow for a frend of a friends son, lives on a Scottish island and is 6" tall and fit.
the stave is just over six foot and is well seasoned Rowan, (Mountain Ash) no experience with this wood apart from a flat bow that shot exceptionally well and took no set in the small amount of shots it had fired before it was given away.
The wood is quite fibrous and light. This stave has a bit of a propeller twist going on and has a knot that could be a problem as the wood under it looks like it has died and is black.
so will be trying to make a ELB section bow with a pointed knock on the top end with horn and a self knock on the bottom tip. some of the Viking bows look like they had side knocks so will be trying that with a single notch cut in the side of the tip.
he has no archery experience but as before he is fit, so will be looking about 45-50 pounds at 30"
hears hoping it doesn't Break!!
