So I just got back from a week of sea kyaking out in Blackstone Bay
looking for black bears. Ned and I
took long bows and atlatls. The first 4 days were spectacular weather, then came the rain! The Blackstone
glacier is at the head of the bay and the snow is still almost down to the water and small bergs grounded
on the shoreline of Willard Island, where we camped. Two French friends came along and I taught them
how to use the atlatl. Didn't see any bears but got close to a humpback whale. We had a pair of bald eagles
in a huge nest above our camp. Never! ever! sleep directly under an eagles nest!!! The white wash[ eagle poop]
comes in vast amounts when you least expect it. Traveling with long bows and atlatl darts in a double kyak
was a bit of a challenge. I put the gear into a water proof bag and tube. Here's a few pics, cheers fiddler49
