Posts: 54 (05/14/09 6:43 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None has anyone ever tried carving a yoyo? ... just an idea i had the other day and ive got a piece of sumac id like to try, if anyone has done it, do you have any tips on keeping it symmetrical? p.s. all hand carved, i dont do lathes... yet. kind of a weird post, but hey! i'd appreciate any advice at all thanks in advance, reuben

There's also the balance of the wood with the weight. Figure out which side is more or less balanced than the other by simply placing the unfinished yoyo on a piece of cordage and seeing which side it leans or consistently falls off on. I'm not sure if you would need bearings or something of the like for a yoyo. You might need to look into that. Also, the easy way to figure how you're doing as far as how round your yoyo is, is simply to roll it on a flat surface and judge where more needs to be taken off or sanded/ect.
