The question should be witch ones are legal . Robins were once a game bird ,protected now . As are all raptors and songbirds . I think.

Ya they are all edible...however robins or jays would be highly illegal as well as any other..... songbirds..
sparrows..... english.....??? not sure about. But there are a lot of neat desirable sparrows....chipping , song come to mind. pigeons are legal...at least here bouts in Iowa. blackbirds not legal..but used to feed many a po folks family..starlings probably would be legal as they are such a pest. Ive never eaten crow..willingly..LOL!! but they are probably edible..depends on what they have been eating..but in a survival situation any songbird would be edible..but you would not get much sustinence off a sparrow. doves are good eating but a game species and in some states not legal to shoot... their breasts do not amount to much meat however.you need to have 4 or 5 to feed a person. I fed my dad a Flicka once when I was a kid...( highly illegal) I shot it not knowing what it was and being taught not to shoot anything I did not eat..I cleaned it and we ate it.It was pretty small meat.I thought he did not know what it was because by the time he saw it I'd cleaned it..but he later told me he knew it was not a game bird... so much for fooling " the old man" chuckle.....Its meat was delicious..similar to quail. not much of it though.

Crow is legal to hunt in some states, check your local regs. Its described as "duck times 20", but there are websites dedicated to crow recipes.

it looked pretty appetizing.

Hi
Sparrows are edible, positive. Here in Spain is forbidden to hunt them as they are protected. They are insect predators...Never tried them, but aparently they taste nice. |

Check the hunting regs for the state you are in. European Starlings, Rock Doves and house sparrows are introduced species and have no bag limit and no season
(take as many as you want, when ever you want). Native species are regulated by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (1918), making
it unlawful to take, possess, buy, sell, purchase, or barter any migratory bird. The Act's prohibitions applied to the feathers, parts, nests, and eggs of these birds. The exception are game Birds; ducks, phesent, grouse..... Bald eagles were granted additional protection in 1940, Bald Eagle Protection Act, and ammended in 1962 to protect Golden Eagles as well. |

My dad and his buddies would kill spitzies(sparrows) and pluck and roast them on sticks. I guess hunger is the best sauce.
You don't know what's in the pickle barrel till ya git the lid off'n it. |

Don't kill the wild tweety birds! If you want to pen raise them for meat, like rabbits, then there's probably a better return on your time and money.
Raise quail. Eat a third of them, sell a third of them and turn a third of them loose while you train bird dogs with them. The local Conservation Police
Officers (used to be called game wardens) would be very unhappy with you if they catch you killing song birds. You could eat a lot of filet mignon for what
those tickets would amount to.
