i´m new to this forum and enjoyed reading the many posts here. quite a bit of information stored in here! so i hope i don´t repeat too many questions that were asked before because i didn´t look through all the posts.
i have a strong interest in primitive trapping, and read through quite a bit of literature (not that there is all that much that i found so far). a few questions are coming to my mind:
what ways of camoflaging human scent with naturally occuring materials (not manufactured) do you know of? what comes to my mind is various herbs and conifer needles, smoke, ash, maybe mud?
has anyone ever (succesfully) tried those?
how often would you check a certain trap, e.g. a deer snare? i´m asking this assuming that you may scare off the animals by checking too often.
also, if there are any great books/internet resources that anyone could recommend that go deeper into this topic i´d be happy if you could share those.
some good ones (in my opinion) that i´ve come across so far:
camp life in the woods w. h. gibson
survival poaching ragnar benson
fur food and survival emil johnson
snares, deadfalls&other traps of the northern algonquians john cooper
any response appreciated
cheers
Goose
