Here is roe deer bone, split in half, tool that I used, a different types of points and mounted points. On the third picture pig gut is still wet, when it dries
it shrinks, and it is like on the last picture.

I know a guy who uses deer shoulder blades to make bone points too. I'm not sure if there are any tricks to it, but he swears by them.

i love bone! i use it for atlatl, arrow and lance points as well as knife blades, fishhooks, combs and a dozen other applications. it's extremely easy to
work with modern tools i.e. saws, files, and belt sanders. a bit harder with traditional stone tools but not impossible. i mostly use dried and bleached beef
bone (petco is a great source!) but i've also worked with bison and mule deer. the easiest way to get a point from bone is to simply smash one with a rock,
pick a nice splinter, and grind it down on some sandstone or granite into shape. one tip, leave the splinter long as you grind until you get the point you
want, then cut it off at the desired length. this is much easier than trying to grind a little 2" point. check out my page for a whole slew of examples.
