I read somewhere that H/G societies spent only about 1/3 of their time actually hunting and gathering (I cant back that up, its more by way of introduction to
the topic) so what did they do for fun, and do we know how they did it? I know that the skills are great fun to do, but what about games, dancing
wrestling...contests etc...
Anyone? |

The majority of the 2/3rds of "other" time was spent, I would guess, on things like maintaining shelters, making tools, fixing nets, teaching
children, etc. I would bet they didn't have all that much leisure time.
Though if I had to guess, I'd say a lot of heavy drinking. Anything else would depend upon culture, location, and blind speculation. |

Dancing, singing, storytelling, and music are big among the !Kung and other H/G groups.

after spending about 20 mins the other day doing a quick test of some pecking and grinding stones,
im gonna say 2/3 of the time was spent pecking :P even while sleeping... reuben |
