Nice to read how well thought of Big Jim is, and how well he is doing, after such a potentially disasterous accident. Continue to heal quickly.

That doesn't sound great. Hope it is just that they are busy attending to Jim.

I got to meet Jim last summer and like him instantly. Plus his wife grew up just across the river from me. Both of them are good people. Praying for your
recovery brother.

Just got off the phone with Jim! He will post later on if he can. He's been on a lot of pain killers, which make him sleep alot. He's been back in the
hospital since the last time, but it home and recovering now. He is facing another surgery in the next few weeks, it looks like (for a shoulder - the opposite
one to the one he had surgery on a couple years ago).
Jim told me he is very grateful for the prayers, and that he had a tear in his eye when he saw what we had posted and all the support. He also told me that he was close to death there in that intersection... The police had even drawn a chalk outline of him as he lay there, as he had stopped breathing. Praise God the paramedics were able to bring him back when they arrived...! A few weeks prior to his accident, John Scordo, Sal, Aimee, Barbara and I had thought about popping in on him at his apartment when we were out to dinner one night at the Conejo shoot... It could have been our last chance to see him on this earth. I'm very glad we'll get to see more of Jim... Those of you who know him won't be surprised to know that he is thinking of plans to build a "primitive" crossbow and go hunting this season, despite his injuries... Ha ha. Ken |

More Trouble For Jim | ||

Guys, I was out in the garage working and my wife came out with the phone. It was Jim... I hadn't heard from him since the last time we talked, when he
was expecting shoulder surgery. He had some very bad news... His wife just passed away suddenly. I'm pretty sad for him right now... But he wanted me
to let you guys know what is going on.
Phyllis suffered a stroke at work, and was rushed to the hospital. By the time Jim got there, she was gone. Apparently her mother died from the same thing at a young age (Phyllis was in the second half of her thirties, I think). I didn't know Phyllis very well, but I always thought she was a really nice lady. I remember one year at the Chamberlin, she cooked Jim and I dinner in their motor home, and Jim had her tell me the story of their pig hunt, where she got to shoot a hog with rifle. I remember how shy she was, and how cute, like a little girl. It was funny, because she was tough, too. She was a body builder, had been in the military, and at one time had worked as a prison guard. Anyway, she was always nice to me when I visited them, and she would cook for us. She was a beautiful lady. Jim told me how she put a cot by his bed in the hospital and stayed with him while he recovered. As for Jim, he had his shoulder surgery recently, and says he is doing very well physically. He says he's still down about 30 pounds, but he can get around, and pretty much only his shoulder is sore. I know he must be very sad. Phyllis died only two days after his birthday. They are holding a military (honors? I'm not sure if that was what he said) funeral for her tomorrow. Sorry to be the bearer of sad news. Ken |
