I´ve received the haul of bow string materials including two FF+ spools ( 1 pound spool black and the other one 1/4 white) I ordered about two weeks ago!!.. Now I wander how many strands of this "new" material (new for me I meant... ) must to include in my new bow strigs compared to the B-50 I have been using to the moment. I know FF material is quite resistant (compared to B-50...) and better regarding to the stretching side wich is more like Linen (That´s what I´ve eard). All comments are VERY WELL come . (I like thin strings myself---I use 12 strands of b-50 so I probably just stuck with the number 12. ) John

THANKS ALOT for the great and fast comments, much apreciated! :D So with a very little amount of strands of FF I can make a very nice and durable strings for any bow weight! really interesting!! hence the price...hehehe..... Thanks alot Kegan for your input mate!....only four to six strands of FF is very little ammount of material for the nocking point even the string is just the strenght you need!..... Hey Nick! Oh!One very first thing I noticed is the fact that one FF+ spool (1/4#er) is notorious thicker and lighter than the ones from B-50(1/4 #er). That´s a very good thing ... What I wanted to say is that my first impresion regarding to the physical weight FF+ (1/4#er) has againts and B-50 (1/4#er), is just the sensation as the actual weihgt is just the same (1/4#er)!!!...hehehe..... Posts: 2408 (06/04/09 4:49 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Asier, The trick to getting your money is by making these skinny strings, and then doubling up on the serving to fit the arrow or nock if you wish..The trick to making a timber hitch work is to wrap around the bottom loop twice and several times more than normal. When putting it on the lower nock pull the tag end tight as well as the string side..This way you can keep the number of twists down which can make for even a faster string..I like betwen 6 and 12 twists max on my personal bows since I'm a bit of a speed freek, and this gives you a bit more.. Also some of my strings are 8 strand for 40# bows and 10-12 up through 65-70#'s and so on.. Rich Richards Bowyery

Posts: 183 (06/04/09 10:47 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	hello asier, i'm also just new in using fast flight for my selfbows and i started with 8 strands for 50-55 pound bows. these are flemish strings and i splice in 6 strands of dacronto the loops and four strands in the nocking area. the rest of the string is not twisted and looks like an endless string. it works very well so far (couple of hundred shots) but the test of time will show... the arrows are noticeably faster than with dacron strings and the tiny rest of handshock of my longbows just evaporated with the use of FF :-) since the breaking strenght of FF is 55 pounds (dacron 35) i do not dare (yet) to use more than 10 strands for 55-60 pounders, fearing damage for the nocks (i do not like the looks of reinforced nocks, so i still stick strictly to selfnocks). Manny uses a lot of strands but then i think that all his nocks have overlays... by the way: does anybody know what the exact difference between FF and FF+ is? asier, enjoy the use of FF and have fun :-) gian-luca
