I was just getting readyto shower for the night, and noticed on my neck aral "purple bruise" not exactly a bulls eye, but still sort of. It appears more like a bruise, or a hicky( and no I've not been active in year's, terrible getting), but it wasn't ther early today and i haven't really been out side except fpr Friday when i was mowing the yard...this has me a bit concerned. Thanks

They said it takes 48 hours for the tick to transfer the lyme to you. Also it is the deer ticks that carry it here. Don't know about the UK. Jim

Posts: 1070 (05/24/09 4:54 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	I will be seeing the Doc, just curious how long it takes from the time one is bitten to when the tell tale rash, bulls eye show up. this thing is about the size of my thumb nail. no real bulls eye just a dark purple circular oblong bruise. I can't figure where it came from or when this might have occurred. It wasn't there late this morning when I got up...

I've always considerd myself to be 8 ft. tall and bulletproof but I got laid flat by a tick last year. I've had scores of them one me in the past but last June I was diagnosed with Erlichiosis, which is a lot like Rocly Mountain Spotted Fever. Got it from a tick and I never had the "bullseye". I literlally don't remember about two weeks..sickest I've ever been. Still don't think I'm conmpletely over it either. Not as strong as I used to be, fatigue, etc. Nothing to fool with. Moosetrot

Just got up and looked at it again, and now it appears to be only a slight pinkish color, and itch...looks more like a bee sting now...I don't know what it was... but not gonna' fool with it

I just got back from the Doc's and he says it was a spider bite. And as I was spouting my knowledge of Lyme disease... I was stopped by his medical knowledge. He stated that if the initial reaction to the bite had lasted more that 24 hours , then there is little to no chance you would have been infected...seems there are differences of medical opinion out there from Doctors....and I've known this Doc for more years than I know and hasn't ever lead me astray... Anyway I'm happier than a pig in slop that it was a spider bite

Had a buddy back in the day, when I was in the Corps; while stationed at Camp Lejeune got bitten by one on his shin...about a week after that event the Doc's had to literally surgically cut out a section of mean at from his shin about 6 to 7 inches long and 3 to 4 inch's wide...seems the poison just starts to digest everything ...and As I understand even if all infected parts are removed you still any have recurring episodes in latter months and years... thta ois one damaging little SOB that old fiddler spider

Glad your gonna be okay EB. Also.... I was told not always does the bulls eye appear on some folks who get bite by the lymes tick. Seems like...more so now a days...bugs & birds etc...are carrying nasty buggers ..that affect folks who fall victom to them.Perhaps a symptom of overcrowding of the planet .& degradation of the environment.....????? My brain is being eaten away by something that may or may not be Lyme, from a tick bite in 2003! Never had the usual symptoms, and always tested nega5tive. There's a lab called Igenex that does a more accurate test.

Just keep an eye on it. If it continues to spread out in to a bulleye it could be lyme disease. Fortunately it is easily treatable in the early stages. My aunt was once diagnosed with a brown recluse bite and she almost lost her leg too. The only problem with that is there are no brown recluses around here. Before it's over, it could take her. She's under treatment with a specialist in CA. It comes and goes but overall seems to be getting worse. Can be really bad stuff.
