I just wanted to know what you people put in your targets bags.
I heard of people using plastic bags but I wanted something a bit more durable..?
Thanks,
Johnny

I had no idea where to ask this so admins don't hesitate to put it where it belongs.

A bunch of cheap clear plastic painting drop cloths wadded up in a blue plastic tarp is pretty cheap.
With the right kind of tape, some scissors and a grommet set you could even make animal shapes sort of like pinatas. Look at the cost of 3D targets and this will become to look like a cheaper option. |

i use just a plastic burlap feed sac full of crumpled up plastic burlap feed sacs. been useing the same target for 4 years now, when the outer bag gets too
beat up to shoot it anymore, just take one from the inside and use it for the outside.

I shoot rivercane tipped with stone. I use a 2.2 cu. ft. block of spagnam peat moss from Walmart. It probably weighs 50-60 lbs. I gave $3.00 last fall, for the
one I'm still using. I noticed the other day, they cost $7.78 now. They hold up really well. I like it 'cause it does'nt dull my points very fast,
and I can pull my arrows easily. They are plastic wrapped new, and you can tape them up, or put a trash bag on it if it starts to leak too bad. When it's
finally shot(pun intended!), throw it in the garden and buy another. Craig

I use a cardboard box stuffed with carpet under felt , works like a charm , get the under felt off cuts for free from the local carpet installer and when the
box gets shot out put the felt in a new box. I suppose one could stuff in in a bag

Quick and easy:
Cardboard box with old newspaper More permanent: Old commercial carpet cut into 1' wide strips 4' long Cut many strips and squeeze with all-thread between 2x12 and put a sloped roof over it. It should last for years and the carpet is in the dumpster at any carpet store. They will almost always give it away as they pay per ton to get rid of it at the dump.

Thanks Ken! Great post!
Everybody seems to agree on the plastic stuff to fill the bag. I might try old newspaper but I really like the carpet idea too! Thanks everybody for sharing your ideas! It's always much appreciated! |

Fill a bag with the polyester stuffing from a old sofa or toy animals. Works great! Stops the arrows very good, its light weighted and dries quickly after the
rain.
Lamb wool is even better, if you dont mind the odor. |

Juri, I hope you take the wool off the lamb first!

Ken, thats a marvelous idea. I certainly give it a try.
Here is one company "NuoliVilla" (arrow wool), they make these target bags. They are selling plain wool also, washed and unwashed. Here is their youtube page, take a look: http://www.youtube.com/user/NuoliVilla and the web bage: http://personal.inet.fi/yritys/nuolivilla/tuotteet.htm Unfortunately only in finnish. |

Hmmm... Lamb wool might be quite tricky to find....unless I use the lamb too as Juri said.
Juri- That arrow wool looks kinda cool but might be hard to come by. Finally, I suppose I can stuff a target bag with just about anything, right? |

Go to a place that sells mattress and sofas and ask them for platic wrapping used to protect them in shipping.

Johnny, polyester wool works great too. Much better than plastic bags or clothes.
Its not expensive at all, but you can also get it for free from old sofas etc. Recycling, man! |

What has worked best for me is the plastic sheeting used to line basements. You can get it a at Lowes of Home Despot. It's thick, fills out a bag nicely,
and last forever.
