I have only had a few failures, but with epoxy and once with superglue, now these two in Urac and superglue attempts on the same bow. fusizoli - No, didn't measure them, don't have a chrono. I do when I go to Pasadena gatherings when Tim Bakers is there because he has one. I don't know if anybody else has one that goes up there, and he hasn't been for a few times lately. Must be writing another book. TBB-5?? Hope so!! DaVid

But if cast had been the main concern, I would have gone for a similar profile but with some net reflex, or at least tips aligned with the back of handle. But I might be wrong about that. I never had it untill I strung my first BBI, it looked good, but when I gave it to my father, the thing just popped off, without even touching it. The thing had already popped off before, and I had used TB3 for both. Well, stubbornly I glued it back on, and it's still there once again, those bows are awesome, especially the bbb. Nick

Most of good wood glues and even epoxies work 'without heat', but generally need about 15-20°C to cure. See the notice the used glue. I don't see why most of glues wouldn't work on bamboo and any elm. But you need to use a glue that have been used with success in bowmaking. If you have to work at about 8-10°C, some PU glues may be used with success. I use Rectavit Structan (normal speed) like on this bow . And I know that Jaro uses another brand of PU glue. But all the PU glue are NOT good for laminated bows. Bruno

Iam wandering if the hearth wood of an elm tree is stronger in compresion then the white sorface wood from the same tree. that s why I want to put a bamboo streep on a hearthwwod elm board. Ican hardly be understood becouse of my poor english. sorry

A combo bamboo / elm heartwood may be appealing. But boo is stronger than elm so it may be good to make the back narrower and the belly wider and flat. Bruno

But I don't see the use of backing elm with boo, since both are considered backing woods. elm heartwood shouldn't be different from the sapwood, exept in colour. your board won't need no backing at all if for astetic reasons, you'd better trap it 1" thin boo on 1 1/2" elm sounds okay ! I buy the flask version. It has both pros and cons. It grabs very good even on dense and oily woods and does not need surface preparation, altough I use toothing plane every time on lams. It is foamy and fills the gap and it is not brittle, but tough. Here cons ends. It needs to be clamped rather fast, the glue lines cannot be sanded smooth, they always stand out. I would not put bamboo on elm, just for the sake of having there bamboo. If it is very dense wood, it might work, but for most time bamboo is too much even for hickory altough people put it on all kinds of wood. You could make it very thin and trap the sides so that back is narrower than belly. But if I had nice piece of elm in need of backing thin hickory or one piece ash backing would be perfect. David, I like the bulletwood bow better. Was the accacia glued in the same shape? That carved volute on nock is nice kink. Jaro

Phil Walk softly and carry a loud stick...
