Glove or Tab |
Lead | |
|
I'm sure this has come up in the past over and over again, but I'm here to annoy everyone once again. What are the advantages and disadvantages of
using a glove? Which is better A glove or Tab, and which do you prefer?

Sorry I do not know which is better, but I like the glove.

I like using a very simple tab. Single layer of leather, I just cut them myself and away I go.

I like both, but I do my best shooting with a glove. Also its easier to get that second shot off faster with a glove. |

I've never tried a glove but a tab can slip off sometimes which can get pretty annoying.
You "feel" more the string though and therefore the release. |

I find my glove handier, you don't have to pay attention to the tab when nocking. And it seems to give somemore protection, but that might be just the
quality difference. Tabs are way easier to make tho.

Glove allows faster shooting, nockign without looking, and a little more freedom of movement. Tabs are easier to make, and seem to give a cleaner release. As well as being cheaper and more easily replaced without any trouble. |

personally i dont use either, dont care for them
i just shoot bare fingered.doesnt hurt untill after about 50-60 arrows on bows more than 55# but those bows are for hunting,i never get that many shots when i hunt so no worries, target shooting my bows are lighter like 35-45# only, those i can shoot all day and no worries. |

I use both: a tab and a Super Glove.
The tab give me a cleaner release. The tab can be worn over a winter glove in the cold months, and in the summer months it doesn't make my fingers sweat. A tab can also be trimmed to fit exactly. A glove is hit or miss in regards to fit. A glove allows faster follow-up shots..that's about it. |

For this I use tabs when I use something ... mostly for hunting .
A tab can be just as fast as glove , it is that you need to practice alot to be able to use it with out looking at it when nocking the next arrow. Howard |

Depends on the type of shooting, the temperature, the draw weight and the thickness of the string.
A bespoke fur faced or pony buck leather tab for speed. Sealskin over suede leather is probably fastest. I don't take the tab off but flip it round to the back of my hand when it is not being used, my middle finger fits into a leather loop. In the field a deerskin glove for convenience. Both leather tab and glove are regularly treated with Nivea and Talcum powder to build up a slick finish. But bare fingers a lot of the time to keep my callouses in good shape. Rod.

I've used both and have gone back and forth ever since i began archery but to tell you the the truth i still don't know. For hunting I like a glove its
always ready, but a glove generally takes longer to make or a good one is more pricey and they tend to crease on me after a few months while tabs are always at
hand I've got dozens laying around and if I lose one I can just make another. I guess you just can't go wrong with bare finger if you can handle it,
one less thing to lose and always consistant. Try it all, im still searching for somthing that suites me. Finger tips like that made by old time target archers
or saxton pope are always good and simple.
Heres the best pattern for them, i've also attatched them to leather thongs on a wrist strap for a light weight glove.
