I found this piece of candy on the Arkansas River Sat. It looks kind of like the big point out of Spiro. I have not cooked it yet but expect lot's of color

OGBGCWD, I live along the Red River in Sherman Tx is it worth a drive up to the Arkansas River in search of chert. I'm not asking for you to divulge your

OMG that is some kind of rock! It is almost too pretty to break up into a point. If I was still doing lapadary work I would slice it thin and polish the crap
out of it and sell a whole bunch of BIG belt buckles. That stone is worth a bunch of money. Nice find.

The rock is in the kiln right now at 200 degrees and holding. I don't really know if it could be clamped up in a saw or not. It would make two points
instead of one if so. I can hardly wait to see if it colors up or not. Sometimes the grey will go wild with color and other times it will hardly change it at
all. I probably will hold on to it for a while till I can get it to a saw man. I would like to have a truck load of it. As far as a source for rock, there is
quite a lot of it in the river. I don't think you would be happy trying to collect it as it is quite scattered and a guy has to pack it out quite a
distance. If one was in an airboat you could get an abundance but it still would be a lot of work. I usually just bring home the pretty pieces as it is the
same rock I get when I collect Kay County. The main difference is the minerals it soaks up from the river making for some interesting color. Mike Smyth

That should turn out real nice.I was given some Kay county that had the swirls I have one peice that may make a 12 to 14 inch blade with some swirles.I'm
waiting for the right day.A few of the other small peices had real nice swrils.

Joe I coked it but have yet to saw it. I did take one little bitty test flake to see the color and it looks dark. Heck I just couldn't help myself.
Don't think I will touch it again till it is sawed. I got rock if ya need some just shoot me an email. I just boxed up three boxes and need to get them in
