        <![CDATA[ Im new to Flintknapping and ive taken an interest in Slate. I dont believe you can actually knap it, so you just break a good piece off and you can form and sharpen it with any abrasive material or grinder.  Im taking a guess that it must be very high grit so you dont damage the stone. Anyone have their own way of preparing slate and turning it into useful tools and weapons?

Also, how can I truly know if a rock is Slate or not? The beach near my home offers many rocks that im sure are... ]]>
