			<description><![CDATA[ It&#39;s been about 6 weeks since I&#39;ve really had a chance to do any knapping. So this a.m. I went out to my shop sat down and knapped. To tell ya the
truth I think that the little break may have helped. Cause things seamed to go easier than normal for me??? Anyway, I turned out this point. I had a pretty bad
step on one side and kept working the piece so it ended up narrower than what I wanted but I think it turned out decent.

			<title><![CDATA[ Break from Practice ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ <p>The cold wheather made me take a break from knapping for a week or so.. But for some reason, takeing a break always seems to help.. These was made from the
flakes of some large bifaces I have laid away until I build more confidence in my knapping ability..

The little knife is deadly sharp! I cutt some half frozen venison into jery strips with it earlier today &amp; it worked as well as any knife I have in the
house..

Here&#39;s a picture of an original copper pressure flaker found by Greg Perino, in the late 70&#39;s. It was found on the Hacker South site, in Illinois,
along the Illinois River. I was there when it was found. Originally the antler handle was in one piece but it split in two once it dried out in the museum
collection. It was found in close association with a Middle Woodland burial, in a small mound, on a bluff crest, away from the larger Hacker mound. It roughly
dates to about 2,000... ]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[ Dumb beginner question about flint ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ I just came back with an embarrassing load of flint from Nethers farm in Flint Ridge, Ohio.  As I am sitting here cleaning the dirt from it, I have noticed
that some of the surface reddish color seems to be more like clay and is coming off.  I can recognise the yellowish clay for what it is.  Is that red stuff
just hardened clay?  I didn&#39;t really notice any red clay in the soil around the pits we visited, just the yellow.

			<title><![CDATA[ Johnston stone? ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ I am not in an area to get good knapping pieces (rhyolite if found) so I am wondering what the opinion of Johnston stone is like. If a point is knapped from
Johnston will it hold or keep an edge like good flint. I am considering trying to make hunting points from Johnston (toilet fragments) to deer hunt with. Would
they break easier or just not get as sharp, or is it at least as good or better than good flint?

evn that translucnt old stuff--,the stuff from 30&#39;s-50&#39;s--clear but have rainbow of colors tinted on the glass at just the right angle.
